Lisa's "Sunburnt Country" picture reminded me of this one from our trip in eastern Cambodia.
I thought I had already posted it, but I haven't, so here it is...
A sign of hope.
Sometimes difficult to find,
but it's always there.
Mondolkiri is in the far east of Cambodia on higher ground, mainly towards the Vietnamese border. A growth of coffee and other plantations has lead to recent development of the area, e.g. making it more accessible. On the other hand, that's bad news for the way of life of the region's indiginous cultures and most of the money will go to foreign-owned companies anyway.

Hello Benny ,
Oh yes , the little green plant was thsre to make the difference .
Very well captured .
PS : I don't know how old was your tip in La Gomera . A lot of is changing (more abandoned fieds , more modern buildings and roads,...) but quite slowly , nevertheless . And people are allways so friendly . I've gone there several times , with my little daughters , too . One of them on my back in a bag ... It is a great place for families .

A superb title to further the intention of your photograph.
It is sharp, direct and so little carries such meaning!
Have a good day,

This is of course a perfect complement to Lisa's photo. You even managed to find a remarkably suitable song title reference. The small green spots, and the optimism they offer, even allow me to say that this is quite a beautiful composition, not entirely alarming and sad. At least I can imagine that.

the strong colour contrast gives this well conceived photograph lots of impact and interest.
A fine minimalist shot with an imaginative title.

Heerlijk foto werk, bedankt.

Beautiful image, the small busy of green here is so powerful against the burnt earth and the cracks in the ground give wonderful texture. Great result, really nicely seen

Hi Benny,it's the dry ground day on TE,you after Lisa, but in your pic there is something of green too. I like your idea for the title,it's a great metaphore, original post from your trip in Cambodia. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

again, i like your style and choice of compositions.
9 out of every 10 photographers would pass up on this scene, probably walk right on past it. but not you.
love the visual effect of looking straight down onto the ground, the cracks are the main focal point in my opinion, and the green plant is a close secondary subject. what an awesome scene, well captured and spotted. cheers

First of all it is a very attractive photo due to its vivid colours and the contrast between them. Secondly, it has a deeper meaning it is easy to find deeper meaning in this photo.

Well presented, impressive the contrast between the colored ground and this lonely green plant, well framed.

Amazing minimalism! The textures, the colours and the pattern of cracks makes it an unusual and almost abstract work of art fit for a gallery wall. I admire your creative way of seeing the world.
And yes... a sign of hope maybe...
Have a nice weekend
