Photographer’s Note
This was a very common sight in India. The family vehicle would be a small motorcycle. The woman rides side saddle, and as her husband weaves his way through traffic. With great care and elegance she balances herself (and in this case, her child as well). The most I ever saw on one cycle was 6!
Excuse the glare in this shot, but I took it through the window of our car.

Hi John. Quite a good result you got in this one , considering you shot it from inside a car. The vivid and busy happenings on the street are well conveyed, and even amidst all the details the family in the foreground clearly turns out to be the major subject in this photo that I would consider more of a journalistic or documentary shot. Interesting slice of life.

John,
Yes, The family vehicle was mostly a 2 wheeler till last decade...But then "Matooti" ( Maruti suzuki)`s small cars turned the outlook & stormed to take that place & noew we can see different cars (small cars) to occupy this space..But still you can find these 2 wheelers in tier 2 cities.
For that reason, the SUVs are selling as a famlily vehicle for affluent class...
This shot is lively...Particularly so with the colours.
Cheers,
Prem.
