[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
I was in Phuket last weekend for a family get away, and took the opportunity to get snap some shots.
Although the weather was nothing fantastic (as it's wet season on the west coast of Thailand), we ventured to one of our favorite restaurants along Patong Bay. While having some drinks before dinner I ventured down to the shoreline to make use of the rocks as my foreground against an otherwise 'average' sky. Just as I was setting up, this guy wandered into my shot. I quickly realized that it really made the shot. I took 3 different exposures with bracketing and opted for this one.

I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

P.S.- Apologies for the watermark ;-)

Hello Dan! Amazing seascape. Wonderful scene. Very good POV. Original composition. Fantastic effect. Good luck!

impressive picture for southern coast of thailand in rainy season.although the weather is not good but you can present the atmosphere of this season very well.with sharpness that show texture of rock and main color scheme of this picture especially that man like born to be for this shot make this shot perfect in composition and colors.
TFS

The guy makes the shot, and a beautiful composition. I love how the wrinkles in his pants mirror the colors and the roughness of the rocks on the fore gorund middle. Lovely sky and the light on the water is awesome.

Hi Daniel. It almost seems like you have a backlighting effect on these rocks which adds to their dimension here. The same applies to the man standing on the rocks as well. And I know the water is perfectly level because its one of your pet peeves on this site and I use the same technique in photoshop as you do...Good work Dan!

Hi Dan
You are right. This would have been a pretty bland shot without this fellow. Interestingly his clothing colours blend with the rocks. There also appears to be some light falling on him from behind that emphasizes him.

Hi Daniel,
I like this shot alot - great atmosphere and the persone in the image really adds alot to the overall impact. Well done and TFS. GErald PS, watermark? Do you use these to reduce chances of inappropriate use of your images? Is that a big problem on TE? Wondering. Gerald

Hi Dan--To me this is in a different class from your recent river shot. I like the way you placed the man against the sky, with the day drawing to a close--it makes it appear he is thinking deep thoughts about life and about the infinite. (Probably he is actually thinking about what opening line he should use with the babe he saw at the pool that afternoon, but never mind that.) The lines in the rock all seem to point toward him. I like the way his clothing matches the rock color, even if that required some PP. NIce even exposure throughout, despite the dark rock an bright sky.

I hope he had good luck with the babe at the pool. Regards, Ken.
