Photographer's Note

Antigua is an island of the Lesser Antilles, belonging to the state of Antigua and Barbuda. It has an area of 280 km ² and a population of about 45,000 inhabitants. The island's capital is Saint John's, which is also the national capital.

The highest point is Boggy Peak, about 400 meters.

It produces sugar cane, pineapple, some citrus, cotton.

It was discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus, who gave it the name inspired by the church of Santa Maria La Antigua in Seville.

The island was colonized by the British in 1632 and remained a colony until the declaration of independence in 1981. He joined with the neighboring islands of Barbuda and Redonda and together formed the state of Antigua and Barbuda.
