| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
This was taken from Shirley Heights, overlooking English Harbour on the south side of Antigua. The island is rich in history and is typical of the Caribbean with often breathtaking scenery. Known as the Gateway to the Caribbean by the late 1700s, Antigua offered control over the major sailing routes to and from the region's rich island colonies. English Harbour was developed as a base for the Royal Navy and was surrounded by fortifications, such as can be found at Shirley Heights, named after General Shirley, governor of the Leeward Islands during the late 18th century.
Antigua is the largest of the Leeward Islands, measuring 14 miles long and 11 miles wide with a population of 68,000.

You took this from a great point of view I get the impression that i'm leaning over a balcony railing to see the boats in the water. The image could be a little sharper.
Very good view point.
What an amazing view over a beautiful bay!! Thanks for taking the time to put in the note, makes the photo have a story now! I do agreee with cristina, that the image could be a little sharper though.
Again - interesting photo from A&B. Good piece of information in the note.
