Day 65: Ambergris Caye, Belize

Luckily Hurricane Dean moved over Belize quickly and didn’t leave too much damage behind so I was able to get there one day later than planned. I didn’t really stay on mainland Belize but headed to Caye Caulker – small coral island about 30 km’s from Belize City. It’s like Jamaica-lite – reggae, dreads, rum and beautiful beaches. I spent most of my time in bed trying to figure out how to get well – pretty ironic.

Ambergris Caye is bigger and touristier coral island about an hour away from Caulker by boat. I wasn’t supposed to go there at all but the only decent hospital facilities were located there so I didn’t have a choice. I decided to take my camera with me - this is one of the few photos I managed to take in Belize.

Dia 65: Cayo Ambergris, Belice

Afortunadamente Huracán Dean se movió sobre Belice rápidamente y no dejó mucho daño detrás. Llegué allí un día más adelante que previsto. No estado en el continente Belice sino fui al Caye Caulker - isla coralina pequeña 30 kilómetros de la ciudad Belice. Es como Jamaica-“light” - el reggae, rastas, ron y las playas hermosas. Estado más o menos solamente en la cama - que irónico!

Caye Ambergris es más grande que Caye Caulker, y la mayor destinación turística Belice. Es situado una hora ausente de Caulker con el barco. Me no supusieron visitarlo pero tienen el único hospital decente cerca de Caulker y no tenía una opción. Decidía tomar mi cámara con mí - éste es una de las pocas fotos que tomé en Belice.
