Where else but in Cuba can anyone find so many of these classic cars. Beautiful lines, shape and colours. The black and white is very good to enhance the moment. Nice work Henk.

Well done. A great car here, so points on the subject. But your recording of it here is really perfect -- nothing out of place and not a bit wasted. Well done!

Hi Henk,
The black and white conversion has worked nicely on this one, you have all the tones from deep black to pure white. The strong contrast between the shiny black body and the super white roof is wonderful. The angle that you have chosen works well to get in a good view of the car and its splendid sharp details, and the lady in the background just adds that extra bit of life. A great shot!

Hi Floydian,
So you’re already working with CS3! I didn’t make the move because I didn’t even knew it was available, but I’ll get it next week, if the OS version have hit the market...
It’s a fact that you’re not too keen on B&W, although I remember some gaz tanks you have done while ago. I think it’s an interesting application for this subject, particularly if the car was already black, therefore filling 35% of the space in the shot.
We can see that you’ve adopted a low angle to present this vintage american car and I’m sure you didn’t push your wide angle to its limit, probably going for a 25mm aperture, or at least, we don’t feel the «over wide» angle effect like with your Red Chevy. You were lucky to have the actual decor, quite «tropicaly» slick with nice architectural details.
I was wondering why you’ve put your polarizer in front of your lens: Was it to have better contrasts, to eliminate reflection on the windshield or for both reason... Let me know, because we can still see big reflection and I actually like it, so I’m not sure when it’s the right time to eliminate it or keep it.
Have a great week Henk!

It is a great vintage car and a great B&W photo too. I like the ... how do you call it? ... the ‘bird” in the front of the car. And the mirrors too, they are good. I believe the ones on the door are not original. But I also do not know anything about the other pair.
As usual, it is a beautiful picture.

I knew you would be the first to get CS3. :-) Photographing this old car in B&W makes it look as if you traveled back in time to the 1950's. Even the background looks like it’s the 1950's. Truly a timeless photo. I like the man standing behind the car, as if he is admiring it too.

Hi Henk,
While Cuba is colourful, B&W suits well with this black car. It looks perfect, so good that it raises questions of it's history. I wonder if it's used by party officials.

CS3? New b&w function? Hummm... that really looks interesting. Gotta give it a try, specially seeing your results here. It's a timeless shot of a timeless car. The way it still shines after all these years... You pulled a great exposure from this one. The way the metallic parts shine throughout the frame is a bliss. Love the man standing on the back. Not as striking as your previous Chevy - the color, always your refined color treatment - but it's still a great still.

bonjour henk,
you are using CS3 and i can see that b&w conversion works well, the quality of grey is amazing as well as the depth of the black , photoshop don't make everything , a photo has been taken before and a great artist was behind the camera.

Hello Henk!
Prachtige wagens daar!
Groeten! Dennis

Great shot of one of these classic old cars. This one is in great shape, and the black & white conversion does indeed look very good - looks like I might have to upgrade to CS3 after all! Well done!

Hey Henk!
Very nice portrait of the car, the B&W suits the atmosphere very much, the contrast is very appealing!

Beautiful. Did you use a tripod or does the stabilizer work that well at slow shutter speeds? Once again I appreciate your patience to add extra elements such as the lady in the background looking your direction. You are a tremendous talent, Sir.

Henk,
I'm currently testing the CS3 trial, and the BW function results are just stunning.
Here I like a lot how you got powerful contrasts in this car.
Very nice,

Hello Henk,
For one more time you present a photo with an old and classic car.Probably Cuba is the right place to take this kind of photos. The black and white fitting very well and indeed is beautiful to your photo.Great work as always my friend,

Dag, Henk.

Hello Henk,
I have finaly found the time to critique your photo. Your usual razor-sharp image and a beautiful job of B&W conversion. This image looks like an old B&W taken during the corrupt Batista era and the photo makes me think of the scene from Godfather II where all of the mob bosses were cutting up the cake of Cuba. Another one of your masterpieces!

Henk, from all you cuban shots this one is the less appealing. Not that it isn't good. I wish I would have it in my collection, but comparing to your previous one this here lacks the punch, a story. The single person in the background doesn't deliver it. Still, technically speaking it is perfect.
Will catch up with you in a week!

Hi Henk,
These old cars are so part of the Cuban image, they really say a lot of things about this country, how they stoped in time regarding to all technology, how people are so creative to keep their automobiles shining and working with little miracles dispite all the difficults to find parts there....
Nice framing and compo with the old man on the BG looking at you. Time there just seems to be stoped.

Flavia

Hello Henk,
This is an instant classic, perfect subject for the B&W conversion. I like the angle you chose here for your shot as well as the angle of the car in the frame. And the crop is perfect. Very nice to include the woman looking your way to add a human touch.
Well done!

Classy shot, Henk. Somehow the presence of that man no matter how small in the frame) on the left makes a big difference, humanizes the shot somehow. Beautiful, crfatsmanlike BW tones.
Have a great weekend,

Nice, nice capture of the car as it sits on the street. There is quite a message here that almost defines my image of Cuba. The hood ornament and the fanned palm along with the B/W convey it well.
So many in your collection are exemplary. I am commenting on just a few that have not received as many points. Congratulaions on your photographic skills!

Dag Henk,
Certainly there are alot of old American cars in Cuba, but probably not that many in such excellent shape. Now that American cars are in decline, I wonder if the next generation of old cars in Cuba will be Toyotas? ;-)
As I would date this car to the late 1940's or early 1950's, B&W is truly fitting.
TFS.
