Photographer’s Note
The name tarantula comes from a real spider that is found in Spain, it lives mainly in an area around the town of Taranto.
Here the spider was just fallen into our boat during a trip in the Los Haitises and the tour guide catch it very quickly. It's not a perfect shot, because there was no time for a good focus.

A nice visit you hasd here, but I prefer to see it in picture! Your guide seems to have strong caloussed hands, which was probably better in case your friend had tried a nice bite.
All the best,

Hi Achim,
impressive the size of this giant spider, it like a brazilian spider called Caranguejeira, but the brazilian spider is black. Perfect sharpen too. Great shot, my friend.

Hi Achim, Excellent detail in this shot, both the spider & the mans hand are drawn out superbly, every little hair on the legs & the prints on the hand are out standing, wonderful shallow DOF & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

what fear!
but Taranto isn't in Spain but in Italy, the name of this spider give a name of a most popular ancient dance in Italy: the "tarantella" (the dance of the man picked up by the tarantola!!)
ciao, giacomo
