Boca Chica Beach Photo

Photographer’s Note

While the airplane took off of Las Americas International Airport of Santo Domingo, I could catch this photo of Boca Chica Beach (the Beach of Small Mouth), it's the first time that the airplane elevates and happens near the beach. Unfortunately the mirror of my seat window wasn't very clean (as usual) but I tried anyway to get a shot from a low altitude.
Boca Chica beach is a reef-protected lagoon of tranquil turquoise waters and powder-white sand. One can wade out 100 yards from shore into glassy waters and still be only waist deep with nothing but soft clean sand underfoot. There are no waves and no deep waters. Boca Chica is crowded on Sundays when capital city dwellers make the half hour commute to the beach, returning home at dusk. The rest of the week, the sand and sun is for the tourists.

Maybe you will notice some lack of sharpness but with the movement of the plane and my prayers hopping that it will take off fine was very difficult to maintain a good focal point.
Incidentally this is the place were my good friend Jose Pires (stego) and his wonderful family stayed for few days while visiting Dominican Republic.

Hola, Emile, a la verdad que con esta toma se puede apreciar muy bien lo afortunados que somos los dominicanos de contar con una playa que en realidad es una piscina natural. Una pena que hallan dejado dañar la playa con malas promociones...
Me alegra que todo ahlla salido bien en tu viaje. Gaby y yo nos vamos este fin de semana a Londres.

Hola Emile,

Es una panorámica estupenda de esa playa tan linda de la que tengo tan buenas recordaciones. El encuadramiento es magnifico y, al contrario de lo que escribes en la nota, la nitidez me parece muy buena, considerando las condiciones en que fue tomada. Es sorprendente la vivacidad de los colores y la ausencia cuasi total de niebla, por lo menos en el primer plano. Me gusta el efecto visual del colorido del puerto abajo a derecha.

Me parece que ha cambiado un poco desde que estibe ahí, no me acuerdo de la lengua de arena cerca de las islas.

Espero que habéis tenido una buena estadía en Miami junto a tu familia!

bienvenido de nuevo, nos alegra mucho volver a leer tus críticas y ver tus fotos aquí.
Esta foto es de las que yo no puedo tomar porque cuando el avión despega (o aterriza), estoy bastante "preocupado", y me agarro a la butaca......
Pero a pesar de la habitual suciedad de las ventanillas, creo que la foto ha quedado bien, y además, el paisaje es tan lindo que sólo nos inspira buenas sensaciones y muchos deseos de ir a visitar tu país.

Dificilmente se pueden captar interesantes panoramas desde un avión a baja o mediana altura. Y aunque la nitidez no es la mejor, considero que valió la pena para vislumbrarnos con un interesante y majestuoso paisaje. Me agrada mucho la profundidad de campo, como todo se pierde en el horizonte, y sin lugar a dudas, las diversas y bellas tonalidades que se reflejan aquí

An interesting scenery with this well sheltered harbour!
I notice the two small islands to add flavour to the seaside landscape...
Effective elevated point of view as the aircraft is lifting, good timing and the right altitude for showing the landscape!

It's probably only during take-off (or landing) of a plane that you would get such a clear and comprehensive view of the area. This is perfect showing the huge horseshoe bay and the islands in the middle. Despite the dirty window you got some good details and colours.

Une vue aérienne bien agréable à contempler (surtout avec la description de la note) !
Pour une photo prise à travers un hublot, la réussite est plus que correcte.
Que cela tente d'aller là-bas, dommage que cela soit si loin !

Magnifique vue aérienne de Boca Chica et excellente perspective. Le bleu de la mer est superbe et beau contraste avec les îles. C'est très différent du paysage de Sosua et Puerto Plata.

It's always great to see views from the airplane windows...beautiful colours of the water here, the deep blue merging with the turquoise in the lagoon. Like the curve of the shoreline which carries us right through the picture. Good depth for this very good view as well.
