Photographer’s Note
Just before crossing the border to the Dominican Republic, we had the usual shootout with kids wanting to have their picture taken. The grandmother of some of the kids was watching the situation from the sideline, looking genuinely happy to see the kids having so much fun. At a certain point she seemed to drift away in thoughts; I thought she looked very beautiful, and decided to focus on her for a moment...

Yo Nana!
This women has so much character in her face and you've captured it well. I like the expression on her face and also think having her arm come up along near the side of her face frames the photo well. I really enjoy your black and white images, there is always a lot of thought and meaning in them.
Cheers

Hi Nana. Now that is a face with an expression! It does seem indeed as though she is drifting away in thoughts. Good choice of b&w.
