Photographer’s Note

Not much for sale in this market, just a few spring onions and other very humble things...

This is a view from the small weekly market of Paillant, a large "commune" above Miragoane (a very small market in the middle of nowhere).

Still, in that commune, I visited 3 different schools, one of them with a secondary section (2 girls here in uniform) ; I did not visit the *richest* school, run by Evangelists...

Salut Catherine,

Je suis enchanté de découvrir ton site et me régale de photos de pays que je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de découvrir. Cette photo m'intéresse d'autant plus que je crois savoir qu'il est difficile de photographier des gens en Haiti et qu'ici tout semble si naturel. j'aime bien le fait que le temps couvert te permet de nous montrer une photo a la lumière diffuse.

Olá Cath, this reminds me a place I visited when I arrived from the Mount Kenya trek - it was also in the middle of nowhere, very poor, very little to sell and even the school uniforms look like the same. Very interesting daily life image.
