Photographer’s Note

This is little girl is only three years old, although I think most will agree that her expression is deceiving. She was walking down the street of Jinotepe, a small city in Nicaragua, with her mom from some sort of event (I don't speak Spanish too well so I couldn't understand exactly where from), but when i asked her mom, who was about 19, to write her daughter's name (I was there as a journalism student), she said that she doesn't know how to write. Jinotepe has still not recovered from the war that cripled Nicaragua in the 1970s.
