Day 74: Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua

Isla de Ometepe is situated on Lake Nicaragua. It has two volcanos and the whole island supports a very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. You can find rainforests and different kind of plantations (coffee and tobacco mostly) Volcanic ash has made the soil fertile and it really shows everywhere – greens seem to be a bit greener here! I finally got rid of last minor symptoms of typhoid fever in the island. However, I had to give up my dream of hiking up to the Volcán Concepción because my body was not ready for full day of hiking.

This photo was taken early in the morning. Local fishermen were standing on their boats trying to catch fish by throwing nets on the water. Unfortunately Lake Nicaragua is facing a tough future – pollution is problem here, too.

Dia 74: Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua

Isla de Ometepe está situado en el lago Nicaragua. Tiene dos volcanes y la isla es un lugar muy pacífico y relajado. Puedes ver selva y diversa clase de plantaciones (café y tabaco). Debido a la ceniza volcánica, el suelo es fértil - los verdes se parecen ser un pocito más verde aquí! Finalmente sobreviví los síntomas ultimos de la fiebre tifoidea en la isla. Todavía no podría camino hasta el Volcán Concepción porque mi cuerpo no era listo para actividades.

Tomé esta foto muy temprano por la mañana. Los pescadores locales están haciendo lo que saben mejor. Desafortunadamente el futuro del lago Nicaragua no parece bueno - la contaminación es problema aquí también.
