Photographer’s Note
This is Carlos Bemudez, a fisherman from Spain, who I traveled with during my visit to the "Parara Puru" Embera indigenous community in Panama.
There is no electricity in the Parara Puru village, so when nightime arrived, some of the island's inhabitants would gather in one of the "cabins", where everyone would tell a story. This is when Carlos was just about to tell his story.

David, I am surprised that this photo has not generated more comment. The light of the flames playing from 2 directions on the man gives a complexity and depth to the image. The red coloring is beautifully warm against the blackend background. He looks like he is lighting up before sitting back and telling you a long and colorful story.
