Day 83: Miraflores Locks, Panama

Panama city was definitely the most advanced and modern city in Central America. On the other hand it was great to be in city with skyscrapers and modern facilities but I wasn’t really looking for them. I would have loved to stay longer and explore more remote areas but I was determined to continue to South America. I was quite tempted to try to travel to Colombia through Darién Gap but its reputation as one of the most dangerous places on the planet made me opt out. It would be pretty cool if they’d build that missing part of Pan-American Highway, though – only that 150 kilometers or so and you would be able to travel from Alaska to Ushuaia by road – 26 000 kms!

I did visit Panama Canal (Miraflores Locks) to see one of the engineering wonders of the world. Impressive, indeed! Several huge vessels were making their way through.

Hello Marko,
Very nice composition & POV that shows how big & long the ship is. It dwarfs the surrounding landscape. Pleasing photo with many diagonal lines. Well exposed with wonderful sunny & happy color.

Best Regards,
Latiff

Hei Marko,
It must be an amazing sight seeing those giant ships squeezing throug canal locks. Good diagonal angle for showing the ship and canal infrastructure. I especially like that little towing engine on the side.
