Photographer’s Note
This was taken in the backyard of a hostel in the district of Casco Viejo in Panama City. It is probably not the best place to stay in as there are parts of the area which are considered 'red zones', places where the local would warn you about. But i love the charm of it being 'real', even though it can be depressing to see sometimes.
Casco Viejo is where the ruins from the attack of the Welsh pirate and his band of 1400 menin 1671 moved from Panama City.
I think if you have been to Panama City but not this part of town, you would have the impression that it's a prosperous city and in many ways very Americanized. But if you want to become closer to reality, this is a place where you can people watch and have a glimpse of their lives.

Hi Natasha, all my compliments for your precious gallery so full of nice works, I've discovered it just now, also I've admired your web site (I really love the picture of the boy with the red accordion behind the red wall, from the latin america serie... just superb!!! )
This photo from Panama is really nice... but it's just a excuse to tell you my appreciation to your work. :o)
have a nice day,
Fabio.

Great scene and PoV and perfect timing catching the woman going inside from the balcony, but I think a tighter crop below, would be good, losing the fragments of foliage.

Hello Natasha,
This is truly a glimpse of daily life, not just in Panama but for hundreds of millions of people all over the world. Besides the comparable misery (I've seen worse) it shows, it's also a quite interesting picture because of the many different colours, different shapes of everything and the trees in the foreground, providing some kind of "nature" to this area.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Natasha
Great perspective you've given us of Panama with your shot and your words.
Just makes it sink in further how lucky i am to be living in a country such as Canada.
Thank you for sharing, and make sure you're safe out there in your travels! :)
Hope you have time to look at some of my photos, as i've looked at yours :)
Thanks
Craig
