Travels on the Silk Road:
The ancient Via egnatia from Albania to Istanbul was part of the Silk Road. A little off the beaten path the Roman and Byzantian vestiges are more modest than along the Via egnatia . Here I show you a little known jewel called Church of St. Risto in Mborja (near Korçe). It was built during the 13th century. It holds wonderful frescoes that have been neglected during Ottoman and later Enver Hoxa times.

Hallo Dietrich!
Das ist ja ein anrührendes Kirchlein! Die Bauweise mutet richtig archaisch an. Schön, wie das Licht über die Dachziegel streicht und diese wundervoll plastische werden lässt. Ein unscheinbares, und doch wunderschönes und beeindruckendes Baudenkmal!
