A view across the Osum river towards the old town of Berat, central Albania.
The characteristic Ottoman buildings, famous for their rows of windows, along with an ancient fortress and a number of mosques and Byzantine churches have qualified Berat as a world heritage, according to the UNESCO.

a well balanced and interesting image. I like the simplicity of the grazing donkey and the background of the town.So much detail to enjoy. But oh dear! the sky is a very Scottish grey!

Hi Gert, good composition using the donkey to provide an interesting FG element, leading the viewer to the village beyond. Shame about the sky, but not much you can do about that. cheers, Steve

Hi Gert, this is an interesting shot from a little-known part of the world. It would make a good cover for Ismail kadare's book Chronicle in Stone, which is about Berat or a similar Albananian city (I forget which one). Great composition with lots of interesting detail. The saddle is a work of art!

Lovely shot. Ottoman influence on the architecture is obvious. It reminds me of several other towns in Turkey. Your POV and the inclusion of the grazing donkey adds up to a lovely photo from a less known part of the world. TFS
