Photographer’s Note
Tirana, capital of Albania. This is the very central part of the city, the Skanderbeg Square. Skanderbeg (Skënderbej), originally Gjergj Kastrioti, is the great national hero, who successfully fought the Ottomans in the 15th century.
There used to be another national hero, communist leader Enver Hoxha, but while his statue was pulled down long ago and most Albanians are trying hard to forget him, Skanderbeg lives on.
This square and the streets surrounding it were designed and built by Italians in the 1920's.
In a workshop you can see the square from another angle on a much nicer day.

Hi Gert.
I like your daily life perspective, in natural colour and with people just doing their everyday things. It looks wet, but also it must have been warm, judging from the clothes. I notice the way the umbrella, flag and the man's plastic bag reflect the colours of the building. It's a 'plain' shot but I appreciate the chance to see a shot of Tirana, as there are not many on TE. Seems there are not many cars in Tirana. Thanks for WS, too.
Regards,
Andrew

Hej Gert,
The WS picture certainly has some attractive details, but I think you were wise to choose this one as the primary upload. Although it was have rained heavily before you took this photo, the rain certainly provided some fine reflections. Quite special colours of the buildings here, but they also contribute to your fine picture.

Hello Gert
You are showing us daily life in a city we don't see too often on TE. Everyone is concentrating on their daily business - or perhaps dodging the puddles! The recent rain has made the scene crisp and clear. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Gert. Here you show a clear and vivid photograph. The rain makes the colors glow. Above all, the color yellow dominates. Overall, a remarkable photograph. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Olá Gert, I have to say that rainny days can produce wonderful pictures and this one is better than the WS. I love the wet mood here with superb vivid colors. This yellow umbrella is just great matching with the façades in the background. Everyone is in short sleeves so the temperature must be warm.
Best regards,

Hej Gert,
Wonderful daily life scene from a country most people know very little about. It also proves that you could take excellent picutures on a rainy day. I love the mood. TFS and have nice weekend!

Hello Gert,
I showed this picture to an Albanian friend of mine who had been to the square only a few months ago and he was telling me about the size of statue of Sikender Be. You've captured the mood that he described very well. The crane in the background shows that modernity isnt too distant.
Thanks for sharing

Hello Gert,
With great pleasure I had a look to your pictures from Balcanic countries. I like this picture especially for its special light after rain. Vivid shot which gives us a glance on a place of the Albananian capital. Very "socialist" architecture in the back .
Thanks also for your kind comment on my autumnal picture.
With kind regards
Anne
