I'm intrigued when I look at this. some parts seem to be blurry and others so sharp. Was it really windy and the snow was blowing a lot? Either way its a joy to look at and admire. Well done.

Hello Liliana,

Interesting photo of this snowy landscape. The B&W conversion was successful: it gives a feeling of dreamlike due to the particular lightning of the scene. It makes me think about the horror movies of the Hammer company: perhaps the opposition between the grey sky and the light spot on the snow in the foreground.

I like so much the high quality of the image, and the great range tones that it has.
Did you applyed any special procedure on PP?
I ask because it has any special characteristic, I don't know to say exactly what, it's kind a soft effect like the ones got with filters.
Anyways, I think you made a beautiful composition for this presentation.

Hi Liliana,

First, I would like to say that you achieved a great result with your B&W conversion. I’ve read your reply to Jose Miguel, because I was also wandering how you did the soft effect in the gray zones.

It seems that you didn’t do anything special and everything was there when you shot this beautiful landscape. Looking at your original version, I understand that the light provided the modulation and soft contrasts along the slopes. But definitely, your B&W version makes it more stunning.

I have not visited your gallery for a while and I am delighted to see that you have posted an excellent series of photos from the Austrian Alps. I guess that you might have taken this picture in colour and then converted it into B & W since the lighting and weather were not the best for the colours. Whatever your reason was I think you have made an absolutely wonderful job. It looks like a post card from the 1950s and this is one of your best from the Alps. Have a nice week-end!

I can't believe this is the first black & white photo you've posted. If this photo is representative of your future forays into black & white imagery then you have a very obvious talent for this medium.

This is a beautiful image, the curves and contours of the snowy mountainsides are wonderful. Tremendous control of light and exposure and I love the huge, white frame. It really adds even more to this fine photograph.

Good work here Liliana. The soft overall impression of this landscape in bw is superb. Combined with the fine use of the hill in the diagonal setting you got a most attractive landscape shot. For me maybe the frame is a little too much of it. Still, as here it balance well in the total result.

Graphically the scene has enough elements to go for a B&W and your soft focus edition makes it indeed dreamy, the snow perfect textured, a very fine enhanced B&W compared with the colored version very natural but here your edition makes it incongruous. Good choice Liliane.

First, I would say that it's really nice to discover your album here on TE. I like the variety of your subjects and the way you present them.
Now to speak about this one, I must confess that it's very difficult to say anything original after 90 other comments... Nevertheless, I like the way you crop the picture, which allows us to appreciate the wide spaces. The B&W treatment is also very nice and this version is to my opinion much more eye catching than the original in ws. The very soft textures and contrasts appear really better on his version.

Wow, this is nice Liliana. I wasn't expecting the smooth "diffuse glow" look when I saw the thumbnail. Very pleasing grey tones and shades in the snow, really good contrast between the snow, trees and rocks and great composition. I also like the framing, the white on white looks really good.

Hello Lili, this is a very pleasing image. May I ask what PP you used here - i like the effect. Very good composition and it makes me feel a little lonely and isloated. Good stuff.

we are used to say in every picture that is wonderful and excellent, perfect maybe but what shall we say about this one?
the answer is -all above multiplied by 2 :)
The B/W, the lighting tones, and the softness this picture has, creates an atmosphere which gives another feeling rather an ordinary touristic picture of the place.

This is the kind of picture for us the viewers, to learn from,
it has something unique, and i just keep staring it... for the past 15 min, which reminds me that i have to run to the office!!! :(

Hi Liliana, a great picture! Very contrasted BW showing a huge and wide mountain slope covered with snow... the trees are so small, this underlines the immensity of the landscape... the tonalities are fantastic...

I am ashamed I've never been to your gallery before. How could I miss so many good photos? This one is especially amazing. You handled a difficult task very well. The exposure is excellent. I alos like the original version, but this b/w one definitely a masterpiece. Congrats.

Beautiful mountain scenery and in black and white too. Personally I prefer black and white and here it has worked extremely well and the composition is superb. The photo also has a lovely silky feel to it

Hi Liliana,

this is more like a painting than a photograph. It has great depth and I like your pov with the slopes coming down from the left also, in the background, a mountain stopping us in our tracks. The sky is very atmospheric, the contrasts are great and you've taken in the perfect light. It's a superb capture, well done.

You have a gallery full of great photos Liliana. I like this one very much. It has a whimsical feel because of the softness in the image. It's like if a massive wind storm was turning the landscape into a giant mantle of silk. Very beautiful indeed.

Dear friend, I am sorry to announce that I may be departing from TE very soon. The reason is that TE admins keep erasing my photos although here there are many similar ones, some without even a note! I keep on posting and they keep on rejecting without a "real" reason. when I ask for an explanation by e-mail, they keep ignoring me. Today as another act of threat they erased one of my first posts here. I posted on the forum requesting advise, they erased that post also. I cannot keep up with this rude behavior, I feel I am posting to my stupid pc since once rejected no one responds to my requests.
