400th, a photo from Tyrol, Ouest

Photographer's Note

Today for the 400th post a picture from the past (picture taken from the picture itself)

1968 at St. Anton in Austria on a walk to the Darmstädter Hut in 2384 m (we never reach this hut, the way was too long). I'm very sure that this was one of my first pictures I had captured myself. My father rent me his Rolleiflex. You could capture only 12 pictures, then you had to change the film role.

Even all those years ago you knew how to compose a photo. The people are placed perfectly in the frame (your parents?) and the man is looking into the frame. The picture lacks sharpness, but hey it's a photo of a 40 year old photo! Incredible.
Congratulations for a TE milestone. I think you must have more of the map covered than any other TE member.

Hallo Achim. Gratulation zu Deinem 400. Wenn man das Photo aus 1968 betrachtet, sieht man mit etwas Wehmut wie die Zeit vergeht. Die Rolleiflex war eine tolle Kamera. Ich kenne Leute, die noch heute damit photographieren. Vor allem das Spiel mit Blende, Zeit und Tiefenschärfe war sehr lehrreich. Hi, Achim. An oldie that I appreciate. I guess you know why. You already had a good sense of raming at the time. You put your parents off centre, which opens the view onto the snowfields and the ridge behind. Is it the hut we can see on the ridge or is it a cable car station?

The man and his companion at the top of the world. At his age, he should be proud to be there.

I am a bit disappointed with the lack of focus in this photo but then looking at 1968, can it be forgiven? If it goes back that many years, probably it will be more valuable as an item of collection than focus.

I can see why you post this 40 year history as your 400th. Very thoughtful.

Achim,
sweet old times where you didn't have only to change only the film after 12 shots, but also pay attention not to double expose the same image. At least that is the type of camera that I had in the 60's and unfortunately I don't have any photograph left from then. The humidity in Rio just destroyed everything.
This image reminds me off my own trips up the Alps with my parents in the early 60's. Nice cintage effect.
What about cloning to get rid of that diagonal line in the upper left corner?

Hello Achim, which time that of the old silver apparatus like Rolleiflex or another ancestor of our digital device color and any automatic, I always tested a certain nostalgia with the sight of these images in black & white, it emanates from it something which I will not be able to define, congratulation for the photo 400ème and not of least, 400 it is nothing and your list of visited country is impressive, sincerely ................. Bonjour Achim, quelle époque que celle des vieux appareil argentique comme les Rolleiflex ou autre ancêtre de nos appareil numérique couleur et tout automatique, j’ai toujours éprouvé une certaine nostalgie à la vue de ces images en noir & blanc, il en émane quelque chose que je ne saurai définir, félicitation pour la 400ème photo et non des moindres, 400 c’est pas rien et ta liste de pays visité est impressionnante, bien amicalement

Hi Achim,
Nice souvenir, you had already the ability for taking photographs. You chose very well the place where people are in the composition and the proportion of all of its elements as well.
I use to take pictures from my old pictures too, to digitalize them. I think it is a good option.

a good idea for the 400th !! it was another time. not 450 pics by days but only 12 or 24 and a week to see the result !!

The thought itself is great. 40 year old picture & yet at that time you knew how to compose a picture. You're lucky to have this precious image still in good condition to share with us! I like very much your choice for commemorating it, it is not only appropriate because of its respectable age, but also because it is clearly a very good and interesting photo, not to mention the "numerology" (400 posts, 40 years).
