Yesterday biking in the Meetjesland creek area of the Boerekreek, against the Netherlands borders

In the middle of the photo you can see, the mushroom built as a water tower.
Here in the Middle Ages there was fighting against the sea. Dikes were built, storm floods wiped everything away. Higher and stronger dykes were resurrected, villages were built and eventually the battle against the sea was won. Small and large creeks that were excavated by the turbulent sea remained as a silent witness. These lakes in the fertile polder landscape form a unique panorama. With this walk you visit the Boerenkreek, the largest of the Meetjesland
