Moerkerke Den Hoorn

Lovely nature area, but close to the highway.

The fishing pond was built for sand extraction, necessary for the construction of the road Maldegem - Knokke in the late 1960s, the Natiënlaan, today a very busy road to Zeebrugge.
The Natiënlaan (N49) crosses the municipality in the far east corner. To the north of the municipality is the hamlet of Den Hoorn, which originated on a horn-shaped sandbank in the polder area and grew into a small independent parish in the second half of the 20th century.

I hope you like it.
