Photographer’s Note

A coat of snow has covered Liege and its region. A nice opportunity to take pictures of the old bridge which allows to cross the Ourthe channel.
The Ourthe channel was build during the Dutch era to link the valley of the Meuse to the the Moselle and the Rhine. The work was interrupted at Belgium's independence and the project abandoned after the construction of the railway. Only the channel between the Ourthe in Liege and Comblain-au-Pont was completed. This drawbridge is only accessible to pedestrians nowadays.
