Two weeks ago I was in these area, splendid for stroll and bike trip.
The Leie (Dutch) or Lys (French) is a river in France and Belgium, and a left tributary of the Scheldt. Its source is in Pas-de-Calais, France, and it flows into the river Scheldt in Ghent, Belgium. Its total length is 202 kilometres (126 mi).
De Lys, spread over the municipalities Deinze, Sint-Martens-Latem and Zulte, to you also, art, nature or sports enthusiast, hiker, biker epicurean to offer.
It is a very polluted river due to the high density of population and industry in the North of France and in Belgium. Historically, the Lys valley was known for the spinning and weaving of flax. The region of the Leie (between Deinze and Ghent) used to be known as a favourite place for numerous painters in the first half of the twentieth century.

Hi John,

The diagonal line of the river and of the path are assets to the composition. The trees are framing well the river and the path. The point of view is allowing me to see the details and colors of the boats. The afternoon light is enhancing the different tints of colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

Une autre belle image de cet endroit. Une image paisible, sereine où cahque élement prend sa place: le vélo sur la droite, la maison sur l'autre rive et bien sûr les deux beaux bateaux. j'aime aussi beaucoup le petit chemin qui suite la Lys et qui invite à la promenade. Zeer mooi nog een keer.

Very good composition of this shot. It includes the house, river, yachts, road and even bike in the frame of vegetation against the clouded sky. That is all what is needed for getting an excellent landscape photo. In addition photographic qualities are perfectly good. Great job!

Beautiful picture! A painting-like one!
The viewpoint couldn't be better! The composition is quite successful, with all the elements perfectly placed in the image! Low lights here enhanced the beauty of it, creating a special atmosphere, a romantinc one, but maybe a bit frightening too! Level of sharpness is suitable to the photo too! Colors are wonderful!

The perspective of this path that leads our look across a beautiful fluvial landscape, the bicycle "parked" under the tree, and the boats that look like housings, they create a very nice image and with a good graphical balance, very attractive to look at.

Hi John,

there is a lovely atmosphere in this view. First because of the scene by itself which is trully dreammy, second is the post processing you have applied in the image. The pathway and the bicycle are suggestive for a ride. Exposure was well controlled and the squared format fits perfectly in here. Very well done!

Hallo John,
Een mooie foto van de 'Gouden rivier', zoals ze de Leie moemden toen het vlas er nog in werd groot. Ik heb in Drongen in de Leie leren zwemmen toen ik een jaar of zes was. We reden er 's zondags naartoe met de 'Boerentram'. De hale heette 'Heilig Huizeken'. Dat was precies op de plek waar nu de snelweg over de Leie gaat.
Bedankt voor het erugbrengen van deze herinneringen.
Prettig weekeiond en heel veel groeten uit een grijs, kil en verregend LUxemburg.

It is good to see you haven't got ice on the canal yet hehehe!
I assume you guys in Belgium are not as interested in skating as the Dutch fellows...
I too would prefer a bike-ride along the canal instead of skating on it!
This is an attractive composition with good lines and fine details, and the typical boats are well placed in the frame...

Olá John, very beautiful painting. I always wonder how it is to live in a boat located in such a nice tranquile place. Love this perspective of the trail leading us to the bright green seen in the distance and the bike didn't escape to my eyes, problably from the owner of the boat. The cloudy sky is also beautiful and making a nice contrast with all this green.

As usual you make the best out of this countryside landscape of your country. The long lane showing the distance and the boats in the river as the main and most lovely subject. I like those boats prticularly. It's good also to see the bicycle, which probably is yours!
A composition which reminds of a painting for its particular light and colours.

Beautiful, well composed, water, boats, lovely path leading us into the frame & wondering what is beyond these boats, excellent colour, contrast & detail. Wonderful composition here using the road to lead the eye through the scene. The off center placement of the road works well giving the shot a nice sense of direction. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has nice sharpness.

What a beautiful shot, John. The boats on the tributary of the Scheldt (would that be the Shalde where in 1890 August Mussin painted the seascape). It is tastefully framed and reveals the artist creating the image.
