Black Sea, Varna port as a background...and a ship leaving to an unknown /for me/ destination...
It was already getting dark and I was still at the Marine Station, enjoying the sea smells and the view of the calm sea around. A friend popped up out of nowhere and we started to talk.
When in one moment I looked around, I saw her - she was manoeuvreing slowly, heading out of the port. I was impressed of the way how she and sun became as one for a few seconds. It was like she was sailing in a golden aureole...
Hope you will like her too.

pp: cleared once, cropped a bit from right, slightly saturated colours.
As this is my first attempt for a sunset capture, your comments for improvement are warmly welcomed of course! :-)

I think you did well here with your first attempt. Instead of leaving the frame empty with only water and the sunset, you chose a clear subject, a silhouette that would contrast with the sunset sky line. The ship, the docks, they work fine.
With some post processing you could level the tilt in the horizon, a slight rotation counter clockwise would fix that. Perhaps you also should experiment with cropping. The top, or the bottom... From top to bottom: 3/5th is sky line, 2/5th is below the horizon... It might improve the balance in your composition by chosing a different ratio.

Hi Maria. Good shot! I like how the sun falls after the big oil tanker. And all the other Silhouette are great details. Good job!

A serendipituos (one of my favourite words, sorry) shot, you could wait around for ages for that to happen. It looks like an oil tanker to me, which probably means it's going back to Ukraine to bring you more fuel.

Not bad at all for a first sunset picture, Maria. All the silhouettes are captured quite well, the standout of course being the big tanker in front of the setting sun. Fine colors, and the light helps quite a bit to emphasize the ripples of the water in the foreground really well. Good shot, Maria.

Welcome in the "sunset club" Maria ;-) I like your silhouette and the orange reflections in the water. Nice and moody photo - good work

May be the picture should have been moved a bit to the right - the crane’s look interesting too.

In addition to the warmth of the sunset, your photo provides a good illustration of how ports never sleep....ships come and go according to the tides or the captain's decision to head out to the next destination, slipping silently out to sea while the waters are calm.

This is a very good first attempt at a sunset shot. The horizon has a bit of tilt to the right, but that can be fixed in post processing. I like the way you waited until the boat was in sync with the sun, as it has put great reflections, without any glare, on the ripples of the sea.

You have captured a very good silhouette here. Like the fact that the setting of the sun is partly un-viewable thus making the picture more mysteriously dramatic.

Nice composition. Great colours and fantastic horizon composition.
Good shot. ;)

I agree with some other about the position in the center but I admit it is very beautifl shot with that boat. Well done, Maria!

Very nice sunset maria. Really smart to have it behind the boat..

I think it is very interesting with the good note you always "complete" your pix's with.
You managed to make a fine composition of the big ship leaving for an unknown destination. The light and colour is very good as are the perspective.

Good idea and good framing, the silhouetes of the boat is very interesting, good colors too.

this is a lovely shot, well done, I like the ripples in the water and the silhouette too, great colours

Well done
