[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Hi my TE friends! Sometimes you see among my critiques strange symbols. Sometimes you even read them - they look obviously as letters, but they seem hardly readable. These letters are named Cyrillic and they are standard as Cyrillic (Windows). For example letters a, o, e, k are written and sound as the usual Latin letters. Others look the same but are read diffrently: P is read as "R", C is read always as "S", X is read like "H", H is read as "N", "B" is read like "V" (hehe, Spanish know that). And there are some letters that present diftongs and triftongs with one letter - for example CH, SH, YOU, TS... are represented with just one letter each. Cyrillic letters are used by Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian lalanguages - spoken by some 200 million people.

The inventor of these letters is concidered St. Cyril and his followers. They were 9th century Bysantine missionaries from Thesaloniki. Hence, no wonder that the basic Cyrillic letters resemble the reading of Greek letters (though graphically more like the Latin letters), with the addition of some 20 new letters. Later their number was reduced to about 30 letters (in Bulgarian) to 32 letters (in Russian).

After their death, Cyril and his brother Methodius (who translated the Bible)have been canonised by both Catholic and Orthodox churches.

This Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius stands on a hill in the centre of the Klisura Monastery in NW Bulgaria in the the Balkan Mountains.

Great shot Anton!
Very good composition with nice colors of such a lovely place.
Greetings from Iran.

Nice contrast of the church against the summer sky, Anton. Your low POV helps to emphasise the feeling that the two towers are 'reaching for the sky' and the image has been very well sharpened. Cheers . . . David

Hallo Anton!
That's a pure "edal" ;-) : A good photo and a good note!
You managed the light here very skillfully and placing the church in front of the blue sky works very well too. I like this building because of it's clear lines and the beautiful windows with their red arches. thank you especially for the note - I've learnt a lot!
Greetings from cool and wet Germany!

Здравей Антон,
I knew that Saint Кирилъ created the Cyrillic alphabet. You know, many years ago I did try to learn some Руски език. So, naturally I begun by the alphabet. I did find it quite easy, because:
1. Some letters are like in Latin;
2. Some letters are like in Greek;
3. Only a few letters are different from those.
I didn't learn much Русский язык, but it was enough to understand the Cyrillic alphabet. So, I can read Русский язык, Български език, etc, but I can not understand most of what I read :-(
About your note, it's very good, but you didn't refer that are many other languages that use the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet. (About the Spanish, V and B (Latin ones) sound both as B.)
Your фотография is beautiful, very clear, interesting POV, with the towers and trees pointing to the clouds.
Поздрави! (I copied this word from a critique, but I'm not sure about its meaning).
