St. Nikolay Wondermaker is the patron saint of sailors, fishermen, ships and sailing. His ornament labels some of Varna's oldest structures like the Maritime temple and the pier tip of Varna's harbour. He is known in Bulgaria and Greece as patron saint of sailors, fishermen, ships and sailing. The detail I photographed is from the facade of the Maritime church named after him - St. Nikolay Wondermaker.
