Rila Monastery:
When you approach the monastery it looks like a fortress.
Once you’ve entered through one of the two gates you’re surprised by the beautiful architecture: arches, colonnades, covered wooden stairs, carved verandas and the 300 monastic cells.
In the center of the irregular courtyard you find the Hreliov’s tower and the monastery’s Principal Church of the Nativity of the Virgin with the many famous wall paintings.
