[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
I didn't see any other photos of Hvar from this perspective on this site, so here it is. Taken just after sunrise from the hill above, which is accessible by car. Hvar town is the main village of Hvar island, the small islands seen in the foreground are mostly uninhabited, the large unsharp island along the horizon at right is Vis. A rainstorm was approaching from the south after a spell of sunnly weather, hence the clouds and the haziness of Vis.

21mm. focal length.

I will add a badly taken sunset shot to workshop.

Hi Tan,
A great pov over the wonderful town and its surroundings. It's a spectacular view with beautiful colours. The white and red of the houses makes a nice contrast and it's very effective graphically, with all those hills, the curves of the coast and the wooded islets. I like also that part of the town is shadowed, with some roofs with sun, but not a bit ue.
Regards, José.

Wow, this is a magnificent view. It is so sharp and so clear that we can see far away. Excellent colours too. Well done.

Hi Tan
thats a great viewpoint of this beautiful place. there's some good lighting on the town and the depth is execellent with those little islands and the large one in the distance. Sunset shot has nice colours, but probably lighting was a bit strange in some places :) good work.

Excellent POV qui montre superbement ce beau chapelet d'îles.La ville crée un beau premier plan mais j'ai l'impression que l'accentuation a tét un tout petit peu trop forte?

Hi Tan

I like the repetition of the rounded islands in the harbour, & the superb, downward pov, from this marvellous, high, vantage point. Good colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Tan,
beautiful light on this marvellous city in this splendid situation. Good POV and the islands form a perfect decor.

Hi Tan,
PoV and timing make the shot, I like also the multitude of depth creating small islands, their bright areas could be sandy beaches, but this being Adria I doubt...
Have a nice day JY

Another stunning POV with great details and colours down below. I love the view over the island dotted in the water. Great lighting again and beautiful contrast between the green, the red and the sky. Excellent work, Tan!

Hi Tan,
Another impressive panorama, with superb depth. I love the way the chain of islands extends outward at an angle. The red-roofed buildings are bathed in sun, and I imagine you as some gull reeling and frolicking about on air currents, looking down at the bucolic scene. Very fine work.

Hi Tan,
Wonderful panoramiv view from this amazing place. Excellent colours, lighting and sharpness. Splendid work!

Hi Tan,
Excellent POV, the early morning sun is just ideal despite the slight haze. The scattered islands look just wonderful against the blue water.

Hi Tan

Great pov. Very sharp with good detail. What a beautiful vantage point. Really well done.

Hi Tan

Wonderful panoramic view from high. Excellent handling of lighting and colors. i love your shots! :)

Hi Tan. I think you made the right choice about which one to post. The light is a lot better in this one and we are able to see that crazy line of islands much better. It's a challenge to use a polarizer and a wide angle but you got this just right. Nicely done Tan.

Hi Tan, even if the WS is not at its best it is quite interesting to look at the exact landscape at so different light conditions. I almost have the impression that you managed to leave your tripod there to get the exact angle. Certainly the main post is the better option and I had to smile about this shot. I'm starting to understand your style and call it the captain approach. I appreciate this style a lot although I'm not sure if I could do the same. Early morning or late afternoon to be somewhere on the top of the landscape to have a wonderful overview.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Tan
Superb high POV...I like the repetation of the oval shaped islands along the shore line. Wonder how they were formed like this! The sun from the left, lighting up the red roofs & the parts of the walls looks exciting. Liked your WS sunset shot too

Nice aerial view. Good light and colours.

Hi Tan,
Great POV; the smooth curves of the islets layered between the mountain and the tidy red-roofed homes make a really harmonious composition. As always, your great technical expertise supports your artistic vision well. HLJ, Pat

Hello Tan,
What a beautiful coast, and probably unspoiled too. Your picture is telling me loudly that Croatia should be on the 2008 agenda. Many thanks for showing us this incredible seascape. Izzet

Hi Tan
Im amazed you can keep coming up with these beautiful places that i haven't even heard of!
A shame that the sunset shot didn't come out a little better, it definitely had potentials.
Good viewpoint.
Have a nice weekend

It's cool to discover that place thanks to you, cause I plan to go there in June.
Good pov then, with a good dof to appreciate the whole place.

Hi Tan - I like both versions here, although I suppose the sunset shot was taken a bit too late in the day & loses detail int he dark areas. So this one is good too, great viewpoint & those smaller islands seem to lead the eye towards the larger, more distant island on the horizon.

Tan,

again and again and again .. incredible point of view .. really communicates this small village against a vast sea .. the light here .. especially with the rooftops is just tremendous .. epic and beautiful ..

take care,

John

Hi Tan. This looks tropical with the white fringed islands only the red roofs and architecture are out of place. Well composed with the inner islands adding a good diagonal element. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Tan, Beautiful photo of the coast of Croatia coast from high above. Outstanding POV.
I like the fact that one part of the city below is located in the shadow while the part on the right isn't. The roofs of the citypart in the shadow though still reflect some light, which is a nice detail in this photo. Overall a very detailed photo with rich but natural colours, fine sharpness. The horizon at ~ 1/3th-1/4th from above was a good idea! Nice sky too! Well seen and executed.

Hi Tan.
I had the chance to visit Dalmatia a few years ago, and I came back very enthousiastic about the beauty of these numerous Islands going from the size of a few tenths of square meters to very large ones as Pag, Hvar or Krk... Your picture is really representative of the memories I have from there and I really like the very dynamic way you present the small islands on it. The contrast between the blue of the Adriatic Sea and the deep green of the pine trees is superb.
Thanks for sharing.
