Photographer’s Note
In the area of the West-Bohemia there are hundreds of geothermal and mineral springs, which gave rise, thanks to their curative properties, such known spa towns like Karlovy Vary "Charles's spa", (after Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor), Mariánské Lázně(Marien Spa), Františkovy Lázně and many others.
Not far from these spa lies the national nature reserve of SOOS. The unusual name SOOS is probably derived from the German word Satz, which means sediment. SOOS is an extensive peat- and mud-bog which derives a large number of mineral springs and carbon-dioxide spouts, in so-called mofetas, sometimes also called mud volcanoes. Area is recalling the primeval landscape of the tertiary geological age. The most interesting places You can visit through the nature trail.
My picture: The strongest and most known spring is Císařský pramen(Imperial Spring),which is captured to the special basin. Mineral water from this spring is rated as most tastefull mineral water in this spa area.
