Music on Charles Bridge

Probably one of the most famous and most visited places in Prague is Charles Bridge (Karlův most). I was in Prague in February, probably not the busiest time of year, but it was still quite crowded on the bridge (and elsewhere in the Old Town). I guess in summer it’s even worse.

Charles Bridge is a bridge that crosses the Vltava (Moldau) in Prague. Construction started in 1357 during the rule of King Charles IV. It replaced an older bridge and was the only bridge between the Old Town and Prague Castle until 1841. Initially it was called Stone Bridge or Prague Bridge, but it got its current name in 1870. A bow bridge, the structure has got sixteen arches and is decorated with thirty statues. It is protected by three bridge tower, one of them Old Town Bridge Tower (Staroměstská mostecká věž) is seen in this photo. The Gothic tower was built in the late 14th century. Many street artists, like caricature artists and, like here, street musicians can be found among the many tourists on the bridge.
