The visit of the Jewish Quarter is often on the agenda in Prague. Situated not too far from Josefov, the so called Spanish Synagogue , a little jewel, is absolutely worth to spend some time to admire its exquisite architecture, but alas, let alone the tripod, no pictures are allowed inside it. This is the only one I could manage at one moment, I was not too happy to sneak it but I could not resist to complete my Prague archive.
May be the most beautiful of all Jewish synagogues in Prague, the Spanish Synagogue combines different architectural styles and traditions. It follows the beliefs and traditions of the Moors and Jews exiled from Spain in 1492, therefore it carries also mixed Catholic/Muslim/Jewish features.

Built in 1868, on the place of the Old Jewish School, the Spanish synagogue was named after its striking Moorish interior.

Very good POV.
I like the very warm atmosphere you share with us through this picture.

Merhaba Izzet. Superb shot with excellent details and colour.I could not stop smiling about your not being too happy to sneak a shot. So, you are human after all! Just joking, we are all familiar with such situations- To Take Or Not To Take The Shot- That Is The Question.Selamlar. Klaudio.

Merhaba Izzet.

How you used the "fisheye" here is impressive. The simmetry and the colours are superb!

To my favs!

In those difficult conditions - this is really impressive photo.

Hi Izzet
You took a very nice wide picture.Colors and shapes also curve angle are very beautiful and fantastic. Also lights are wonderful and impressive.Your note is fine and complete.

Very well done.
afshin.

I thought it would be a mosque when I first looked at the thumbnail. It is evident the moors features on the geometrical decorations. But, of course, the six pointed star is very Jewish, no doubt about it. I really like the POV but I would like to see a close up to the dome. It looks impressive too. Well done.

Wow, this is a really beautiful interior shot! The extreme wide angle allows us to see both the bottom level and the wonderful ceiling decoration. Great positioning to give this a centred look (which is not easy with such a wide angle lens), and great colour too. Beautiful work, as always!

Hello Mr. Keribar,
This is a magnificent interior and 10-20 works perfectly here.
Exposure is perfectly set, and the distortion adds a lot to the wierdness of the curved architecture.
Best regards,
Deniz

Merhaba izzet

Perfect sharpness, with the centre column nicely anchoring the entire shot. A nice color contrast, between the blue & yellow, with good repetition of the windows. Tfs!

Hi Izzet,

Wonderful photo. I understand you so well. It happens very often that you are in splendid interior and you are not allowed to make pictures. I feel very unhappy then. But although you had to sneak the result is superb.

Thanks for sharing

Merhaba Izzet,

well today you have produced from the hat one of my favourites here this year - beautifully executed this is such a stunning building and one that thoroughly deserves to have someone like yourself record it - your management of the light and the effectiveness of your composition with such a wide angle are nothing short of masterful.......as is your appreciation.

My best wishes to you

kev

Izzet, shots like this makes me always look back into my bank account and rethink the crazyness to buy a wide angle. What a marvelous shot. The column in the centre is certainly something that usually is not the right thing to be done in photography, but here it makes the shot! Outstanding mood!
Regards, Peter

Merhaba Izzet,

This is a sensational image of the Spanish Synagogue in Prague, beautifully conceived and flawlessly implemented. The light management is extraordinary. The windows are not overexposed at all, while the interior is exquisite in its exposure.

My two closest friends — a couple in the US and another couple in Haifa — are both Jewish, and I will share this image with them. (My Israeli friend was my office partner at Oxford, and we've visited each other a dozen times,) At a conference in London in 1985, the famous philosopher of physics, Max Jammer, once told me an interesting story. When the Jews were expelled from Spain c. 1492, they emigrated to Eastern Europe and Turkey (who welcomed them). In Eastern Europe — in Germany, Poland and Czechoslavakia — they had to take on last names, and they had to pay for these last names. The ones who could afford it wound up with names like "silver," "Silverman," "goldman," "diamond..." The ones who could not buy the best names, frequently ended up with a name like "Einstein."

Warm regards,

Bulent

MUHTEŞEM, fotograf muhteşem,

Merhaba Izzet.

This is a great view due to the lens and also a very smart composition.
THe exposure was not easy, but you managed it very well.

Thanks for sharing.
