Yellow and green, a photo from Prague, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

Outside of Prague, the Bohemian countryside is aglow with yellow fields of rape. Rape is the plant canola oil comes from. Because of the oil's non-cholesterol content, it's the newly fashionable cash crop. But not even heavy Czech cooking would justify the vast rape fields growing everywhere. So we asked around. One theory we got was that Czechs have invented a way to use Canola oil as an additive in car fuel. But a good friend of ours has let us in the real secret of Bohemia's golden glow. She says rape seed is used in the manufacture of beer. Sure enough, alongside fields of rape we also saw vast plantations of hops. Because the Czech Republic is famous for beer. (These gasoline and beer theories have since been repudiated, but they make a good story.)

Nice graphic interpretation of this landscape Eva. Good to get the curve snaking through the frame, though maybe worth including just a little bit more on the right.

Good shot Eva. You've chosen a good DOF which allows us to see details of the rape in the foreground but still has the background in focus. The curves are great, maybe a little more green on the right would make the balance even better.

I love those shots with yellow fields! Even though this time we don't have a blue sky to contrast, those curves make it up for the skyless view. Very nice composition!
