Photographer’s Note

The Frederiksborg Castle (Slot in Danish) is of Dutch Renaissance design. It is the largest renaissance palace in Scandinavia. The castle is named for Frederik II, who ruled Denmark and Norway from 1559 until 1588. Most of what now stands was built by Frederik's son, King Christian IV, who ruled from his father's death until his own in 1648. The castle now houses the Museum of National History.

The castle is situated on Slotsø (Palace Lake). I especially enjoyed strolling about the grounds, which include a large Baroque garden.

Hi William,

What's this!? A very artistic and very unusual photo (obviously), and I like the row of bright green (semi)circles. Your photo is very interesting to look at and ponder, but I think one aspect is troubling me. That is, it seems rather like modern art to me: it looks nice and it is different, but I don't necessarily understand it. Why use such an unusual angle to represent the castle? I guess I'm expecting it to make a statement about the castle, but then your note didn't really explain your decision at all. (Or maybe I'm just too conservative and can't appreciate it for what it's worth). ;)

Anyway, a fresh idea that I myself would never have thought of (I like!), and it worked well I believe.
