Photographer's Note

"It's the same all over,
same all over,
It's the same all over
- good people
everywhere you go."

This picture isn't particularly typical for Fynen, nor for Denmark. It's my little tribute to the Irish pub! I think they deserve a mention on the UNESCO list of World Heritage. Within our globalised world, these pubs have established themselves firlmy within the pubs and bars niche of culture. And - for once - I tend to applaud globalisation here.

With their wooden floors, fake old-style interiors and Guinness on tap, Irish bars are to be found all over the world, often making only minimal adjustments to the particular coleur locale of the location, sometimes including grumbling waiters who are totally ignorant of even the most basic aspects of the local language, but it also makes them instantly recognizable and a safe haven for all thirsty travellers on the road of life.

I don't really know who or what this statue is supposed to represent. It being Odense, it might have something to do with Hans Christian Andersen, but in my imagination these two are either on their way to or on their way out of the pub. It all depends on how you look at it.

Cheers!

Sleante!
