This is the main entrance to tthe Grabrodre (Franciscan)Churchyard in Roskilde.
The site of a former Franciscan Monastry, built in 1200 but destroyed during the Reformation, the remaining Monastry Church was in use untill the early 1800,s.
This Entrance and the Churchyard Chapel (on the site of the former church) where built in 1805, reusing some of the old bricks.
Nowdays this entrance is kept locked, to stop the Churchyard being used as a Toilet and by Addicts.

Hello Mike,
I don't think you can beat brick as a building material. There are so many hues to them and they can be used to make interesting and intricate designs as here. A great capture of this lovely gateway. The cycles parked either side add much to the atmosphere. Good colours and detail.
