Oh my god it's a roof ! I thought it was a piece of textile ! Sorry for my mistake :)
An astonishing church (thanks a lot for the artwork link) and a good focus on one of the numerous details.
It was probably very hard to choose what you wanted to shoot.

Great capture of this old wall (or ceiling) painting, it looks nicely preserved. Compared to some of the other murals I've seen this one is rather decent in what it shows. Often the devil was a major participant in those murals, check this one for instance ;-))

It reminds me of the colonial churches here in Peru, with all its biblical paintings but interpreted in a local way, via the sincretism between the catholicism brought by the Spanish conquerors and the 'pagan' beliefs of the Inkas.
Is this a fresco? I mean, not just wall painting, but the fresco technique of painting on 'lime'.
I first thought it was fabric due to detail it has. Is this naturally lit?

Some of my best arcitecture shoots have been taken lying on the floor.
this is a superb and wonderful scene Jeppe. I love these old painted ceilings.

Great picture of this roof. But why not have gone some meters ahaed to put the light out of the picture? This would be beter, or it was not possible?

Yes, there are many many historic & traditional painting on the old buildings in Iran.

I could hardly figured out what was all about the photo when I saw the thumbnail, but now it is crystal clear, and it is great!!!

Very nice colors, and details of this ceiling, and very nice notes as well.

I picture you lying on the floor taking the pic, and the people at the surroundings looking weird at you... ;)

I also took a photo of a "kalkmaleri" in a church in Denmark this summer. Not as good looking as yours, but I will check if it is worth posting. This one has the great advantage of containing all the typical soft colours and no reflection of a flash, and no dark corners. I wonder what settings you worked with. It!s good - with a good note.
And Paradise Lost is of course the famous book by Milton. How about a theme group "Photos with titles from great books"?
