[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
..We are now in Fakse limestone quarry , eastern part of Sjælland which 63 million years ago was covered by a warm sea , where shark , giant alligators and octopuses were swimming among beautiful coral reefs

The sea was swarming with sea urchins , crabs , snails and bivalves . More than 500 species of animal lived in the Cretaceous sea , and scientists estimate another 1500 species are still to be found !

You are free to visit the quarry , and even bring hammer and chisel to find and keep the fossils you may find !
I myself have been there and found sea urchins , crabs , corals ,snails and bivalves .
If you are lucky , you may even find sharks’ teeth !

Hallo Dorte!
Interesting, very interesting! I've never seen something like this - and in these dimensions. This must be a wonderful adventure playground for adults. I didn't know that you also are a palaeontologist. Great!
Greetings from rainy and cool Westphalia!
Frank

Hello Dorte,

The panoramic format is a good choice to give perspective on the space scale of this remarkable limestone quarry. The note is first rate, giving us perspective on the time scale. Since the comet that is generally accepted these days as the culprit that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, this area is in neighbor in time. (That comet is believed to have struck off the coast of Yucatan Peninsula of Eastern Mexico.) Lovely white of the limestone and the blue of the sky stand in dramatic contrast.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hello there Dorte.
Fascinating and beautiful picture, and great notes. A very unusual landscape with its own beauty, and some lovely light on parts of the limestone. Nicely framed by the trees and the sky. I think your choice of proportions is very successful here, creating a panoramic effect. Great work.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Dorte,
A very good composition of this fascinating place. I like the long panoramic view and the framing from the foreground trees, which make a very nice contrast with the quarry itself. Thanks for sharing.
