....well , I will finish my story about this women's institution (once I have started)..........;o)
The women were disciplined by the educational therories of that time : hard but meaningful work which included sewing , working in the kitchen , in the fields , in the cattle shed and in the garden .
If they did not behave , they were locked up in the "pip cell" for days , living on water and bread.
Otherwise , if they DID behave , they might be granted a week of holidays in a small cottage on the west side of the island .
Unfortunately in was sometimes uncovered that sailors found their way to the cottage with booze and cigarettes and a mood for partying , which the girls didn't protest against....
Some of the women were sent by boat to Korsoer for a compulsory sterilisation . Many eventually left the island - a few managed to create a normal life after , but for many Sprogoe had become their only home , and so they litterally asked for permission to stay..........
After 1961 the buildings housed a children's holiday camp for a few years .
To-day the island is used for coursea and conferences. |

Hallo Dorte!
Like yesterday you show us this place with it's evil past. All over the world it's incredible what men do to men...
It's important to point a finger at such places in order to bear them in remembrance. In this respect you show us an important picture which deserves attention!
Greetings from rainy and stormy Germany!
Frank
Hello Dorte,
very well captured shot of this interesting place. Good pov, great perspective, very good depth and nice and well saturated colours. Very useful informative note. Hope you don't mind, I made a little WS to give some texture to the flat sky.
Tfs and best wishes!
Attila
