Photographer’s Note

Skagen is a luminous and colourful small town in Nordjylland. During the 19th century some painters arrived to the fishing village following the contemporary fashion of painting 'en plein air', out of doors, often regardless the weather. Painters such as Michael and Anna Ancher, Oskar Björk, PS Kroyer lived in Skagen. Their works are wonderful and they established a vivid figurative style of painting that became known as the 'Skagen School'. The picturesque old neighbourhoods are filled with distinctive yellow washed houses, each with red-tile roofs. The day I visited Skagen the light was glorious and walked near the main church.

Hi Roser,
very nice light indeed and superb colors. I also like your POV, but it is a pity that the two posts are so ugly that they are almost distracting the eyes of the viewer from the church. Nevertheless it is a nice composition. TFS!
