Kliplev church is a surprisingly huge building located in a village of only 1200 inhabitants. In medieval times the church became a calling point for pilgrims due to a crucifix, St. Helper, which was attributed miraculous powers. Unfortunately the statue disappeared in the 19th century.
Kliplev is situated at the Haervejen which in Scandinavia was the first part of the regular pilgrim land route to Santiago de Compostela or Rome. It stretched from Aalborg to Hamburg and it was the only traffical connection between the river Elbe and the Limfjord. The end of the pilgrim traffic came with the reformation.
The photo shows one of two naves in the west which in Gothic period had been added to a small church from the Romanesque period. Due to this the layout of this church is very complicated. In the east you find the oldest preserved wooden building in Denmark, a free standing bell tower dating from 1300. Kliplev church is worthwhile a visit but not in the first weekend of June where the traditionel market at Kliplev which grew as result of the streams of pilgrims still is held. This market (which is more like a Tivoli than a market) attracts thousands of guests.

It is not easy to capture the lighting on the white walls . In this case , you've got a dark blue sky . But the POV is good and the atmosmhere is pleasant Very good framing ,too .

Best pov to have the church front receiving the beautiful sunlight direct to create a wonderful displayed of light and shadows over it! and the colour contrast is superb with the green lawn and the blue sky!

The beautiful old historic church is caught in brilliant light that brings out ture color, fantastic details and soothing shadows. The white and green make a lovely contrast and the cloudless blue sky the perfect background.

This church has an unusual look, at least for "Southern Eyes".
I didn't know that there were so long pilgrim routes all the way to Santiago de Compostela.

pas facile d'obtenir un eparfaite exposition de ces blancs, mais tu y es arrivée apparement sans problèmes.
