Copenhague's Nyhavn, Denmark.

As I had to go to Copenhague for professional reasons, I profited from the occasion and stood for the weekend. What a lovely place! And so great weather ... I don't regret the choice and start today a series of pictures taken last weekend.

I guess that starting with the famous "Nyhavn" is a good choice! Nyhavn is "the" place not to miss. Nyhavn, that means "New Harbour" is very popular among tourists as well as the locals because of the many bars and restaurants. It is located in the heart of Copenhagen near the square Kongens Nytorv.

Nyhavn is one of the oldest parts of Copenhagen, it was built by King Christian V in the second half of the 17th century and was in that time called Nyhavnskanalen (New Harbour's Canal). The houses at Nyhavn are more than 300 years old and the oldest one is Nyhavn no.9, that dates back to 1681. Fairytale-writer H.C. Andersen (1805-1875) is a famous resident of Nyhavn.
