| Jaanilinn Fortress is a medieval castle established by Ivan III in 1492. The fortress sits near the Narva River, opposite the Narva castle. The original castle was constructed in one summer, in the year 1492. It was named after Muscovite Grand Prince Ivan III. Its purpose was to fend off the Livonian Knights. The castle is strictly quadrilateral, measuring 1600 sq. ft., with walls 14 meters tall. During the Russo-Swedish War, 1496-1499, the entire population inside the fortress was destroyed after a seven-hour siege by Swedish forces. |

Hi,
Very nice landscape, the castle situated near river looks picturesque. I like the reflection in the water and bright light on the walls.
Regards :)
Agnieszka
Tere Hanno,
Nice view over the river into Jaanilinn-Ivangorod, from the past this fortress kept its impressive aspect very well over time, the late afternoon oblique sun provided here a pleasant lightning, and I appreciate seeing some persons by the river to provide scale. I prepared a small WS for you.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves
Very nice, Hanno! I like this view of Jaanilinn.
It's a shame that you didn't not have a polarizing filter with you that day. That would have enabled you to capture that wonderful reflection of Jaanilinn in much more clarity.
I love the sky and how you filled the frame with that wonderful old fortress in Narva!!
Hästi tehtud!
