In 1991 Estonia was re-established as an independent country and Tallinn became the capital again. The population is just 500,000.

Tallinn has historically consisted of three parts:

- The Old Town, which is the old Hanseatic town, the "city of the citizens", it was the centre of the medieval trade on which it grew prosperous.

- The Toompea or "Cathedral Hill", which was the seat of the central authority: Danish, Teutonic, Swedish and Russian.

- The "Estonian town" forms a crescent to the south of the Old Town, where the Estonians came to settle. It was not until the mid-19th century that ethnic Estonians replaced the local Baltic Germans as the majority amongst the residents of Tallinn.

Although extensively bombed by Soviet air forces during World War II, much of the medieval Old Town still retains its charm.

The Tallinn Old Town (including Toompea) became a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997.

Hi Daniel,
very good abstraction of a city. The colors and patterns are beautiful.
Regards, gerrit

Hi Daniel,
Special tele angle of the old town. Great old and well kept architecture, I guess many of those buildings are recently renovated. Very nice colours. I think even, cloudy light suits here quite well.
Kari

I like this close-up a lot. The use of the tele lens makes the buildings flattened all together.
A very good work
Stefano

Hello Daniel!
I loved this composition, with a zoom to the several buildings, creating a very attractive effect on their architecture and colors!
Very good job!
TFS - Congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

Hello Daniel,
A very good composition for this beautiful architecture picture. I remember this part of Tallinn. It's unusual to show a picture of it without seeing the street with the people or without the end of the street with the gate but it is really very beautiful.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Daniel,
You also have finds beautiful frontages colriées.
Your colors are softer than mine.
I like much this whole of red roofs.
Regards
Marc

Hello Daniel,
Very interesting architecture and also an interesting photo, where the tele lens has created an effect similar to a cubistic painting. It's also a good scan that seems quite true to the real colours.
Regards,
Gert

Hey Daniel,

Wow, an amazing view of the city. Looks very beautiful. Just the kind of claustrophobic architecture I like. I must visit Estonia some time. Very colorful, sharp and neat.

Best regards.

Hello Daniel,
A wonderful mixture of shapes and colours, all very effectively compressed by the lens to increase the feeling of enclosure. The soft light has prevented any deep shadows from spoiling the view.
Best wishes...Maggie

Hi Daniel,

Great composition with all this roofs in various red colours.
With all that different coloured facades it looks like and expressionistic composition, f.e. like an early Mondriaan.

Groet Rob

Hurrah on this one Daniel,
A lesson of photography how a keen eye can separate the good and the " less good " and make a work of art by isolating it.
I sincerely believe that I could't do better. The fact that it was a dull day makes it perghaps even better. Keep well - Izzet

Hello Daniel
Close zoomed framing to make it almost like a jigsaw. The varied colours of the facades, the red tiles make this great. In fact I have to laud you for using the zoom& framing so effectively here. Good work!
Regards
Angshu

so many windows/eyes lurking at us. beautifully portrayed :) the colors are bright and the fact there is no sky makes it a bit claustrophobic yet very attractive.
how many windows are there?

Hello Daniel:

The special point of view, this allows for composition, very meaningful and colorful.

All houses and buildings, causes a great feeling graphic and linear, with appreciable shade, framing and good management of enlightenment.

John

Hi Daniel,
The title tells all about the photo. I could name it "Colorfully Enclosed" :)
Such a stuffed presentation of that baroque corner! The old euro-urban feeling is so strong here that i am willing to visit a central eurpoean town right at the moment :)

deniz

I do like the way you have composed or cropped this, Daniel, with all the angles and lines heading in different directions. It's one of those 'busy' scenes that really works well. The technical quality of your scanned image is very good as well.

Hello daniel
I like how you have filled the frame with such a variety of colours, shapes and textures. Well done, Marlene

Thats such a masterpiece buried there within other gems of your gallery Daniel. I love the architectural clutter and those hues and textures. Fabulous composition indeed.
