Photographer's Note

In 1347 King Valdemar IV of Denmark sold Northern Estonia, including Narva settlement on the Russian border, to the Livonian Order. Livonian Order knights started to build a huge castle to protect their new lands. The construction continued in XV and until XVII centuries, until in the Northern War Narva was taken by Peter the Great and castle lost its military purpose.
***
Real landmark of the castle is Hermann Tower (white one in the middle), as well as the fact that ancient Russian Ivangorod Fortress are being located nearby, across the river (may be found in Ivangorod locations on TE), thus making it almost closest situated medieval rival strongholds in the world, I think.
