Photographer's Note

This was taken on my second trip to Estonia (who knew I'd go back so soon after my first trip in 2001?) when I was visiting my Finnish girlfriend and her family for the holidays. There was a huge blizzard in the region that night which disallowed the SuperCat fastboat its travel, so we had to take the large ferry over very choppy waters for 3 hours. We only had one night in Tallinn but it was a beautiful fantasy of driving snow, dried elk meat, spiced beer and wrought iron. The next morning was clear and sunny.

Anyhow, this is one of the several entryways into the center of Old Town Tallin. Estonia, having been released from the USSR's grip in 1991, just may well have the most beautiful capital I have yet seen. I imagine that the local economy will eventually get a boost from low-budget filmmaking teams who will flock to capture its antique charms before it is gone forever.

The only postprod work I did was boost the contrast and crop.
