[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an orthodox church on Toompea hill, facing Toompea castle. It was built to a design by Mikhail Preobrazhensky in a typical Russian Revival style between 1894 and 1900. The church has been renovated since Estonia regained independence in 1991.

Stitch of two 18 mm frames. Upwards camera angle made work rather tricky.

Impressive karj , beautiful church and light condition too , the exposure is perfect and colours great , interesting people inclusion to get the scale of buildings , compliments , well done.
Stefano.

Hello Kari,

That's an interesting building. Yeah, stitching is an art in itself. I can see it unfortunately quite clearly, based on the straight lines that are not at all that straight anymore.
I would have used PtGui here for the stitching and especially on the straight lines, add more control points by hand.
The average viewer won't see it, but since I am quite critical about stitching, I do see it rather well. That is a pity, since it is a very interesting building!
Thanks for sharing!

Greetings, Dennis

Hi Kari,
amazing cathedral! Great colors and POV!
Well done and TFS
Vanessa

Hi Kari,

Excellent demonstration of how to make an impressive building looks even more outstanding. You've carefully chose a perfect angle to show all the dimensions and architectural details. The light is also favourable to add this "popping up" feeling.

The sky complement the scene with pizzaz. You probably already know by now, but maybe a slight higher framing would have allow to see the top of the dome's cross, without jeopardizing the street level.

Great shot!

André

What a lovely photo, Kari.
I do find your result quit nice and worth to show here. Bravo, go ahead.

Hi Kari,
despite the critical line of stitch it is a beautiful capture, great clarity and good addition with life. I like the good contrasts and light. Just because I am curious, what tool have you used for the stitch? I recommend Hugin as a good freeware.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Kari,

sky is also good.

An impressive architecture shot ith beautiful skies and lovely perspective and tones. I like the composition and the way you have fitted so much into the frame. Lovely work

Hi Kari, I looked at this and thought that it looked like a very wide angle for 18mm FL, then read your note and went looking for the stitch only after reading Dennis' critique. That is, I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. Great use of the filter to achieve nice deep blues contrasting well with the pale colours of the church, and some people to give us a sense of scale. Well done. cheers, Steve

Fantastic picture of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, dear Kari !
Wonderful POV and light. Perfect colours and very good sharpness
Best Regards
Aires

Hello Kari!
I'm not sure I've already told you I love architecture of all kinds and styles, and so I do concerning churches, cathedrals and so on!
This is a fine example and I think it looks wonderful, very beautiful!
Your picture is sharp, has natural and nice colors and a great POV (from the floor, highlighting the majesty of the building)!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,

Hello,

mangigiqeu cathédrale, très bien cadrée,, sa couleur blanche est superbe, avec ces beaux clochers, ce ciel mangigique, une bien belle image.

Bravo et amitiés

Nicou

Hello Kari,

This is a well composed image, showing fine details in the great architecture!
The style is unmistakably Russian and the well maintained structure really looks good in the fine light...
Good balance in the composition, the point of view works well!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Kari
Nice point of view of this wonderful cathedral.
Framing is perfect and it give a nice perspective.
Well done
regards
Claude

Hi Kari,
Ah, strong deep colours, that's how i like to see them. Seems you had perfect weather that day. Colours are crisp and bright. Stitch was difficult with a little bit distortion, but that doensn't bother me that much, i am more attracked by the clear and bright colours.
Regards,

Kari,
This is a great shot of this interesting architecture. There is a small blemish caused by the stitching but it is minor. Your composition is great giving us an upward view of the church. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.
TFS,
Asa

Hello KAri,

another excellent shot from Tallinn with a wonderful sky, good composition and excellent sharpness.Very well done.

With regards from Luxembourg

Hello Kari,
I like this picture very much too and can't wait to get a chance to see that next week.
POV, DOF and colours are great.
However, I feel it would have been even better if you would have left a bit more space on top of the church. It feels a bit too cramped but it's a minor detail really.
I don't think I would manage to get that good myself!
Estelle

Terve Kari,
A good subject for a sunday...
Stitch seems to have been a bit difficult, architecture is always tricky due to such distortion effet still the result is nod bad just fixing the verticals a bit would avoid that impression its about to fall in pieces, but this is also matter of taste. I's been long since I last was in Helsinki, '97...
Have a nice evening JY

Hi Kari.

Excellent, excellent view. The POV and the colours are really lovely!

Beautiful low POV on this magnificent building in such a great light. Beautiful sky.

Hi Kari,
fantastic capture of an orthodox church. I remember this church very well. Good perspective, superb light, perfect sharpness... Really great shot Kari!!
Best regards,
Andrzej

Olá Kari, most impressive architecture and superb work you did here. A bit tight on top, but still a wonderful perspective - may be a bit more sky and less FG, but it's a minor detail. Nice low POV making the Cathedral even more majestic compared with the street scene at left. The sky is enhancing.

Hi Kari
It's really look like a 3D picture ! I am amazed ! It's will be be better with a little more space on the top of the crosses.
Cheers

Beautiful capture of this lovely Eastern Rite church with its intricately designed carvings and lovely black and gold onion domes. All this beauty is brilliantly seen against the perfect blue skay with its lite wispy clouds.

Good work Kari with a fine choice of pov to have a very representative presentation of this building. Perfect blue-white setting this day.

Hi Kari,
I was enjoying your mini-train series, as I moved back to see if there were more, this beauty captured me.As Andre notes, the unique angle you selected really shows the archtechtural details well. This angle, the detail and the interaction of sunlight and shadows give great depth to the photo making it appear three dimensional. Then, as Henk notes, the great clarity of colors is just wonderful.
HLJ, Pat

hi Kari,

The Alexander Nevsky cathedral is impressive by its size and architecture. The light is enhancing the colors. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the architecture of the cathedral. The subject is well frame. The presence of people has a scale effect. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hi Kary
nice shot with good Pov; maybe just a little higher it worked even better.
Great sharpness and nice note too!

Hi Kari,
Stitch of two frames? I couldn't discover. Very good work!
It's a pretty view, with extraordinary light and shadow. It seems a 3D picture.
