Photographer’s Note
July 2nd, 2009, midnight. My first-ever experience to see daylight at 12PM. My first time in Finland and the first time being so far up in the North. The place is Lake Inari.
I would have wished to create a photo with smoother, sort of blurred waters by using longer shutter speed but I realized that A) these lights were tricky, quite pale and dark because of the constantly changing weather (some sunlight and then heavy rain in 5 minutes), and B) it was best anyway to somehow grab the essence of the moment and shoot it the way it was. I am sure I could have done better with this and also in such a small size it is not very much enjoyable (you cannot see the details of the trees, the gently moving lines of the hills and the vastness of the lake) but still maybe you can feel something from what I had felt.
I was using a tripod and just a UV filter and the shelter of a small hut nearby every 5 minutes to hide from the stormy rain and then come out and take some quick shots when it stopped raining for a minute or two :-). Ooooh, God, the pleasure of photography ;-).
I hope you like it anyway.

very interesting, low perspective. it works great! also, the photo is dark with high contrast and shadows, which works very well.
