Lapland's sunset
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
This is a picture taken during a sunset close to Kuusamo, on our way to Lapland. As you know, in this part of the world the day is very large during the summer, and one can enjoy great and very long sunsets till nearly midnight.
The picture was taken at 9:30 p.m.
Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and islands – 187,888 lakes (larger than 500 m²) and 179,584 islands to be precise. One of these lakes, Saimaa, is the fifth largest in Europe. The Finnish landscape is mostly flat with few hills, and its highest point, the Halti at 1,324 metres, is found in the extreme north of Lapland at the border between Finland and Norway.
The landscape is covered mostly (seventy-five percent of land area) by coniferous taiga forests and fens, with little arable land.
I hope you like my picture
Best Regards

Hello Victor,
Yes, I like your photo a lot. I find it bringing a feeling of boundlessness and infinity. The ferelected clouds and green coloured coniferous forest are remarkable. Very strong horizon!
I have thought of Lapland as a distant cold, icy place, but you have managed to reveal to me a different view. Thank you.
Regards,
Asparuh
You have been lucky finding a no raining day in Kuusamo this last tow weeks... this is a typical mirror lake in north Finland, you will got more reflection taking the picture a couple hours earlier, I will post one I took in a nearly to Kuusamo lake also.
